This has been on my blog and also reposted on Graham’s substack. For completeness I will cross post on here.
I decided to deal with my insomnia by transcribing the interview Graham gave to Sarah Smith on Newsnight. For non U.K readers, Newsnight, is quite a reputable BBC production and is home to some excellent journalists. Two of whom, Hannah Barnes and Deborah Cohen, have covered the controversy around the Tavistock Gender Identity Development Service (G.I.Ds) Clinic consistently. It was therefore all the more perplexing to see this interview.

There is some criticism levelled at men who get involved on this topic but I don’t agree. Ultimately we all have a stake in this. Maybe some are fathers, some are gay men who see the harm to their own community. Some speak out from a natural sense of injustice. Still others come from a belief in the complementary role of the sexes and we may find that stance anathema; if your perspective is more critical of sex stereotypes. At the same time opposition to the medical interventions on minors is going to garner opposition from people from disparate traditions.
