This is really thought provoking, Tish. It encouraged me to question my own experience, not so much in my teens but in my twenties. After immersing myself in radical feminist literature, I became convinced that my male privilege resided in my genitals, and I fantasised about castration. As far as I remember, I never imagined that this would make me a woman, it was more about not being a man. Thankfully ‘gender affirming’ surgery was not then a thing. It’s only after reflecting more deeply on the nature of male power that I realised it was patriarchy, not my male body, that had to be dismantled.

A sympathetic but forceful narrative, and the 'chapter' headings are great: men do need to sort themselves out, and the first step is acknowledging that women exist!
